LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Megan Koster, a junior outside hitter for Emporia State University, was named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week late Monday afternoon (Sept. 24).
She earned the award for her steady, consistent play in helping lead the Lady Hornets to wins over two nationally-ranked opponents last week.
In ESU's sweep of then-No. 23 Rockhurst, Koster scored her first double-double of the week tallying 13 kills and 10 digs. She added two block assists in the win over the Hawks.
Koster continued her sound play in ESU's sweep of then-No. 12 Pittsburg State, notching her second double-double of the week, registering a career high 18 kills and adding 20 digs. She added one ace and two block assists in the match.
For the week, Koster attacked at a .348 clip, while averaging 5.17 kills, 5.0 digs and 5.67 points per game.
Koster is the first player from Emporia State to be named Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week. It is the second time in as many weeks an MIAA student-athlete has been so honored -- Washburn's Tessa Jones won it last Monday (Sept. 17).
