TULSA, Okla. – Kansas State concluded action at the Hurricane Invitational at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Sunday with two doubles victories and three singles wins.
The tandem of junior Katerina Kudlackova and freshman Antea Huljev put together a solid win over Marta Marcinkowska and Thalja Barriga of Tulsa, 8-2. Kudlackova and Huljev finished their first weekend as a doubles pair with a 2-1 record.
In the other doubles victory, senior Viviana Yrureta and sophomore Natasha Vieira edged past Rebecca Row and Alexandra Kichoutkin, 8-6, for their first doubles win of the fall campaign.
In singles action, Huljev earned her first win as a Wildcat with a straight set win over Emily Arkell (6-0, 6-0) in the Gold Draw. Also winning her first singles match as a Wildcat was freshman Pauline Guemas. Guemas set down Corrine Langston of Oral Roberts (6-1, 6-2). Yrureta finished her weekend with a 2-1 singles record, as she defeated Yawna Allen of Oklahoma State (6-4, 6-3).
K-State will return to the court on Oct. 5-7 at the Hoosier Classic in Bloomington, Ind.
