HORNETS FALL AT NORTHWEST MISSOURI
September 21, 2007-- The ESU soccer team snapped a three match scoreless string, but it was not enough as the Hornets fell 3-2 at Northwest Missouri on Friday afternoon.
Northwest took an early 1-0 lead on a Andrea Freeman goal in the 16th minute. ESU tied it a 1-1 two minutes later on Caitlin Riemer's second goal of the year in the 18th minute. The goal, on an assist from Alicia Smith, was ESU's first in 305:42 minutes of action.
The Bearcats took the lead for good in the 28th minute on the first of Amanda Deml's two goals in the game. Her second came in the 83rd minute. Sarah Tetuan brought ESU to within 3-2 on her third goal of the year in the 89th minute on Smith's second assist of the match.
The Hornets were outshot 24-10 with Megan Martin recording seven saves. She went over the 200 career save mark in the match and now has 203 saves in 29 matches played.
The Hornets continue their road trip on Saturday when the travel to Kirksville, Mo. to take on Truman. Kick-off from the Truman Soccer Park is set for 2 p.m.
