Athletes from around the state gathered at Heartland Park Topeka for the cycling portion of the Kansas Senior Olympics. Organizers say they expect around 650 athletes to compete in the events this year.
Officials say anyone who will be 50 by the end of the year is eligible to compete in the sports. Wednesday's events included 5K, 10K and 20K cycling.
The athletes say competition is good, but the camaraderie shared after the events is the best part.
Events will be held throughout the city this week and next Thursday through Saturday.
