EMPORIA, KAN. (September 14, 2007)--With a presale of over 3,000 and less than 100 reserved tickets remaining the excitement level for Emporia State’s football home opener is at a fever pitch. Those fans that are not able to attend the game in person do not have to be left out of the action. ESU and their media partners, KFFX-FM and The Emporia Gazette, and the MIAA have teamed up to give extensive multi-media coverage of Hornet football this year.
This will be the 20th season the Hornets have been broadcast on KFFX, Mix 104.9FM. Greg Rahe and Chuck Samples will provide play by play and commentary from the booth with Ron Thomas on the sidelines. All ESU Athletic events that are aired over the radio waves will also be available on-line at www.kvoe.com/listen.htm. The audio portion of the Hornet football games will then be replayed on the web Monday’s at 7 p.m. from kvoe.com. Both the live and archived audio webcasts are free.
The ESU Department of Technology and Computing Services, in partnership with the MIAA and Penn Atlantic, will produce video webcasts of all Hornet home games at www.themiaa.tv. This is a pay per view service and will cost $5.95 per broadcast. The three camera feed for this weekend’s game will be provided by TCS with the audio coming from Mix 104.9FM. The video feed will then be rebroadcast on Emporia Cable Channel 8 on Monday at 4 p.m.
This year ESU’s Athletic Media Relations will be providing live stats on the Hornet web site at www.emporia.edu/athletics courtesy of The Emporia Gazette. With this feature, fans will be able to keep up with all the statistical action of Hornet football as it happens, live on the internet. Look for the live stats link on the ESU web site.
Fans that are not close to a radio or computer with internet access can also get text message updates sent to their cell phone with The Emporia Gazette News Alerts. Go to The Emporia Gazette web site at www.emporiagazette.com and click on News Alerts to sign up for this free service. Updates will be sent after each score as well as a final score at the end of the game.
