Approximately 660 senior athletes, ranging in age from 50 to 91, from all across Kansas and the nation will be in Topeka September 19-23 and September 27-29 to compete in the 24th Annual Kansas Senior Olympics. Sponsored annually by Parks and Recreation of Topeka, the Kansas Senior Olympics event is Kansas’ premier athletic competition for senior athletes. The 2007 Kansas Senior Olympics offers competition in 17 different sports for individuals who will be 50 and over by December 31, 2007. These sports include Archery, Badminton, 3 on 3 Basketball (teams), Bowling, Cycling, Golf, Horseshoes, Racquetball, Road Races, Shuffleboard, Softball (teams), Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Track and Field, and Volleyball (teams). For the not-so-serious athlete there are also nine just-for-fun events.
I have enclosed a schedule of events and a map of the venues for each sport.
On Monday, Sept. 17, our office will move to the Athlete Check-in Site at the Big Gage Shelter House in Gage Park, 10th and Gage. Please call 273-9519, September 17-22. Of course, you may stop by the Athlete Check-In Site during the hours listed on the schedule.
