HOUSTON (AP) _ Even with Larry Johnson back on the field, the
Kansas City Chiefs couldn't shake the offensive problems that
dogged them during their winless preseason.
Today Johnson finished with 10 carries for 43 yards in the
Chiefs' 20-3 error-filled loss to the Houston Texans in their
regular season opener. Kansas City fumbled three times, losing two
of them, missed a short field goal and threw two interceptions.
Damon Huard's first errant toss came just before halftime when
Von Hutchins drilled Jeff Webb who tipped the ball to Dunta
Robinson. First-round pick Dwayne Bowe dropped a couple of passes
but had a nifty 25-yard catch that set up Kansas City's only score.
Houston's Mario Williams returned a fumble for a touchdown, had
five tackles including two sacks.
Williams' second sack was good for a 6-yard loss inside the 20
that forced the Chiefs to settle for a field goal two plays later.
Justin Medlock's 27-yarder made it 17-3 in the third.
