September 2, 2007 -- The Hornet soccer team fell to Angelo State by a score of 4-3 in the final game of their trip to Ada Oklahoma. The three goals mark the highest scoring output for the Hornets this season. They were outshot by the Rambelles 24-14 while netting 10 shots on goal to ASU's 16.
ASU struck first in the fourth minute of the match when Ashley Tatum headed in a cross from the left side. The Hornets would come back to tie the game in the 13th minute as Sarah Tetuan scored her second goal of the season from 15 yards out on a pass from Lauren Cathey. The Rambelles would go back on top as Ashley Tatum scored her second goal of the game on a six yard shot. ESU would tie the game up again in the 37th minute as Caitlin Riemer took a pass from Alicia Smith and knocked it in from about 20 yards out. Smith got her second assist of the season on the goal. Less than a minute later Ashley Tatum netted her third goal of the match to give the Rambelles a 3-2 lead going into the half.
Coming out of the half niether team would score until Alicia Smith hit a corner kick from 35 yards away in the 72nd minute to tie the match at three. In the 88th minute Ashley Tatum would get her fourth goal of the game to put ASU ahead for good. Megan Martin had eight saves in goal for the Hornets.
The Hornets will come home for their first MIAA match against Washburn at the TRYSA Complex on September 8th starting at 2:00 p.m.
