HOUSTON (AP) -- Joseph Ngwenya scored a goal midway through the second half and the Houston Dynamo tied the Kansas City Wizards 1-1 Saturday night.
Dwayne De Rosario dribbled the ball from midfield and punched a pass to Ngwenya, who took two steps and sent it in the right side of the goal to knot the score in the 69th minute.
Houston (11-7-6), playing its second straight game without injured leading scorer Brian Ching, held onto first place in the Western Conference.
The Wizards (9-9-6) remain fourth in the East.
They took a 1-0 lead just before halftime. Scott Sealy passed the ball from the left side into the middle, where Eddie Johnson banged it in from five yards out.
A total of seven yellow cards were issued in the game, four to the Wizards.
