Huard excited about first job as starter

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Damon Huard played behind Dan Marino,
Tom Brady and Trent Green, so he's excited about finally being
named the starter in Kansas City.
Huard got a chance to play when Green was hurt last year. He was
5-and-3 in eight starts with the second highest quarterback rating
in the league.
Huard will be under center on September 9th when the Chiefs open
at Houston.
Huard says he has heard from former teammates who are wishing
him well.
The Chiefs expect Brodie Croyle to be their quarterback of the
future, but he didn't play well in the first three preseason games.
But neither did Huard, who has a calf injury and didn't play at
all against New Orleans last week.
He probably won't play against St. Louis on Thursday night in
the final tuneup game.
