WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Texas heat and a double overtime match from
the day before were too much for the No. 13 ranked Washburn Lady Blues
to overcome as they fell to Midwestern State 1-0 in the final match of
the MSU Classic. Washburn will try to get its first win of the season as
they open the 2007 home season with Rockhurst at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in
Yager Stadium against Rockhurst.
The Lady Blues (0-1-1) were outshot 17 to 7 as Midwestern State (2-0-0)
scored the only goal of the match in the 20th minute putting them up 1-0.
The Lady Blues recorded only two shots on goal as Jessica Mainz and
Traci Nigg had the two attempts for Washburn.
Freshman Ashley Klone picked up eight saves in her collegiate debut in
net for the Lady Blues.
