MARYVILLE, Mo. (AP) _ Northwest Missouri State says it won its
season opener against Arkansas Tech 21-0 -- even if lightning ended
the game in the first quarter.
Arkansas Tech says last night's game never happened. It will be
up to the N-C-double-A to decide the outcome.
Athletic director Bob Boerigter says Northwest Missouri is
sending game details to the Division Two football committee.
Arkansas Tech says it now considers next week's game at
Northeastern State to be the season opener.
But Arkansas Tech coach and athletic director Steve Mullins says
ending the game early was the right thing to do. He says the safety
of the players and fans comes first.
