Lady Blues Soccer Team Ranked #13 in Nation

The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team was ranked No. 13 in the nation in the National Soccer Coaches Assocation/adidas® preseason poll which was released on Tuesday evening.
Washburn opens the season on Aug. 25 in Wichita Falls, Texas against No. 17 Central Oklahoma and then take on Midwestern State the following day before returning home on Aug. 29 against Rockhurst.
The Lady Blues were ranked No. 1 in the MIAA preseason coaches poll announced on Aug. 1.
Washburn returns the league's top scorer and '06 Most Valuable Player, junior forward Jessica Mainz (13 goals, 4 assists, 30 points). The Lady Blues return nine letter winners from last season’s squad which went 15-1-6 overall and 10-1-3 in MIAA play clinching the conference title on the last regular season date of the year with a 2-1 win over Missouri Southern. Washburn also returns second team all-region selections sophomore forward Ashley Taylor (5 goals, 4 assists, 14 points) and junior defender Lisa Fahey. Also returning are second team all-MIAA pick junior midfielder Traci Nigg (3 goals, 4 assists, 10 points) and junior honorable mention all-MIAA selection, junior defender Kaydi Hooker.
