Washburn Rural Set to Defend Title

I'd say if the sport were indoors --- like volleyball --- practice sessions would be conducted under a much desired break from the heat. However, at Washburn Rural High School --- the air conditioning went out yesterday. That's the perfect set-up for a Junior Lady Blues squad who expects to play every match with the heat turned on... here's more.

Washburn Rural opens up on Thursday, August 30th in a quadrangular at Bishop Miege. While Bishop Miege is ranked by one service as the 27th best high school team in the country --- Washburn Rural is ranked 40th. Also defending state championships this year from Northeast Kansas are Silver Lake... and Centralia.
