The New York Yankees say Hall of Fame shortstop Phill Rizzuto has died.
Rizzuto had been in declining health for several years and was living at a nursing home in West Orange, New Jersey.
Rizzuto, who was known as ``The Scooter,'' played for the Yankees throughout the 1940s and '50s and won seven World Series titles in 13 seasons of major league play.
He went on the become a broadcast analyst for the team and was beloved by a generation of fans for his signature call of ``Holy cow!''
Phil Rizzuto was 89 years old.
