Former Jayhawk Hinrich leaves U.S. hoops squad

^AP-Basketball: U.S Withdrawals
UNDATED (AP) _ Kirk Hinrich (HYN'-rihk) is the latest player to
withdraw from the U.S. basketball roster for personal reasons.
Shane Battier (BA'-tee-ay) did the same thing earlier this summer.
And number-one NBA draft pick Greg Oden pulled out last month after
having his tonsils removed.
Seattle forward Nick Collison has been added to the squad,
leaving the Americans with 16 players as they return to Las Vegas
for practice starting Wednesday. The roster must be trimmed to 12
the day before the FIBA (FEE'-buh) Americas tournament that begins
on August 22nd.
The U.S. needs to finish in the top two to clinch a spot in the
2008 Olympics.
