Joliet Hammers T-Bones 14-3

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Brian Forystek shut down a steamrolling Kansas City offense as the Joliet bats provided run support early and often in a 14-3 victory over the T-Bones in front of 5,014 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Forystek allowed two earned runs on five hits in six and one-third innings, walking four and striking out two while improving to 3-2 on the year.

A night after the T-Bones roughed up Joliet pitching for 11 runs on 15 hits in the series opener, the JackHammers returned the favor Wednesday night, posting 14 runs on 15 hits to draw within one of the first-place T-Bones in the South Division standings.

Kansas City starter Jonathan Krysa struggled for the second consecutive start as the first three Joliet batters singled before Chad Ehrnsberger's three-run home run put the JackHammers up 4-0.

The T-Bones managed to cut Joliet's lead in half in the bottom of the third, scoring twice on a pair of RBI singles by Geoff McCallum and Mario Delgado that made the score 4-2 after three.

That would be as close as the home team would get as the JackHammers produced seven runs on five hits against Kansas City pitching in the fifth, putting the game out of reach 11-2.

Kansas City tacked on one more run in the seventh on a bases-loaded walk to Aharon Eggleston, but Joliet pushed their lead right back to double digits in the ninth, scoring the game's final two runs to give the contest its final score, 14-3.

Krysa fell to 1-6 on the year after giving up eight runs on seven hits with seven walks and one strikeout in four innings. Dan Jackson pitched the final five innings, allowing six runs, four earned, on eight hits in that span.

Game Notes: Kansas City committed five errors in the loss, breaking their previous season high of four that the T-Bones have reached three previous times in 2007…Rob Watson's single in the eighth inning extended his home on-base streak to 33 games, his home hit streak to 13 games and his overall hit streak to seven games…Geoff McCallum's RBI single in the third extended his hit streak to seven games…Mario Delgado's RBI single in the third extended his hit streak to eight games…Nelson Gord's single in the second brought his hit streak to eight games…Joliet second baseman Chris Brown fell a single short of the cycle.
