Royals place Sanders back on DL, recall Gathright

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ The Kansas City Royals placed outfielder
Reggie Sanders on the 15-day disabled list today and recalled
outfielder Joey Gathright from Triple-A Omaha.
Kansas City also recalled reliever Ryan Braun and optioned
right-hander Leo Nunez back to the minors. Nunez was sent to Omaha
to make room for starter Kyle Davies, whom the Royals acquired from
Sanders injured his hamstring. He played in eight games since
returning from the disabled list two weeks ago. He's expected to
miss four to six weeks.
Gathright batted .315 in 25 games with the Royals before being
sent back to Omaha to make room for Sanders.
Nunez returns to Omaha despite tossing six shutout innings
against Texas on Sunday.
Davies make his Royals debut Friday against the Yankees.
