Lady Blues Picked to Win MIAA Volleyball Title

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Returning two All-Americans and coming back from a
27-9 season, the Lady Blues were picked first in the MIAA volleyball
coaches preseason poll announced Tuesday by the conference office.

Washburn went 9-4 last year in conference play to win the West Division,
finished second in the conference tournament and advanced to its fourth
NCAA tournament in five years.

Washburn edged Truman, last year's East Division and postseason
tournament champions, by four points in the balloting and took six of
the 10 first place votes. The Bulldogs had three top votes and Pittsburg
State received one.

The Lady Blues will report on August 6 and will have their first matches
August 24-25 at the Nova Southeastern tournament in Fort Lauderdale,
Florida. Their first home match will be September 4 against Missouri-Rolla.
