MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State sophomore Abbi Sunner registered a second-place finish at the first-ever Iowa Women’s Amateur at Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington.
The native of Ankeny, Iowa finished carded a 220 over the three rounds (73-73-74) and finished just three strokes behind the winner Kendra Hanson of Forest City, Iowa (72-73-72--217).
Sunner played in a total of eight events in her debut season for Kansas State in 2006-07, two in the fall and six in the spring. She finished the spring season with a 77.68 stroke average and recorded a career-best finish of second at the Baja Classic on Feb. 6.
