NEW YORK (AP) _ Major League Baseball set a single-day
attendance record yesterday. There were 717-thousand-478 fans drawn
to 17 games.
Boosted by a pair of day-night doubleheaders, baseball broke the
previous mark of 640-thousand-412, set when 17 games were played on
July third, 1999.
Baseball is averaging 32-thousand-258 fans per game through
Saturday. That's up almost four and a-half percent from last year.
