KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Brian Bannister and Billy Butler were
the stars in Kansas City's 6-to-1 win over Texas.
Bannister blanked the Rangers over seven innings, allowing four
hits and two walks while striking out six. He improved to 7-and-6
with a three-point-42 E-R-A.
Butler launched a three-run homer in the bottom of the first off
loser Jamey Wright, who gave up five runs over six and two-thirds
to slip to 3-and-3. Mark Grudzielanek (gruh-zuh-LAH'-nehk) had
three hits and an R-B-I in the Royals' second straight win.
The Rangers didn't score until the eighth, when Sammy Sosa
belted his 604th career homer. Sosa had two of the Rangers' five
hits.
