#18 ESU splits last day with #4 UCM
The Emporia State baseball team split with #4 Central Missouri winning 7-2 then falling 8-2 at home.

The Emporia State baseball team split with #4 Central Missouri winning 7-2 then falling 8-2 at home. ESU got two home runs and had 18 hits, four of which for extra bases.

In the first game, ESU fall behind 1-0 early before Pitcher Jake Hosey got in a rhythm and allowed only three hits over the next three innings. UCM added a run in the fifth inning to take a 2-0 advantage before ESU rebounded with seven runs in the final two innings to earn the win. Tyler Herrig was three for three with two runs scored and four runs driven in and a home run. Jeremy Francis pinch hit and scored two runs along with Tyler Knight who also added two runs scored. Hosey went six innings striking out four and walking none to pick up his second win.

In game two ESU fell behind 3-0 early in the first inning and could not come from behind as close as they would get was 5-2. Chris Dobler drove in all the Hornets runs with a pinch hit home run in the seventh inning. Spencer Blades earned the loss pitching five innings and allowing four runs on four hits.

ESU will return to action tomorrow when they face Wayne State at 3 p.m. from Glennen Field in Emporia, Kan.
