Self’s first head coaching position was at Oral Roberts in 1994 where he was 55-54 in four years. He took over at Tulsa in 1998 with three winning seasons before moving on to Illinois from 2001-03. He was named the eighth head coach at Kansas on April 21, 2003. Self is 24-10 overall in the NCAA Tournament, including 14-5 while at KU.

Kansas is 4-2 all-time against current membership of the Patriot League - 2-1 vs. Holy Cross, 1-0 vs. American, 1-0 vs. Colgate and 0-1 vs. Bucknell. Three of the six games - vs. Colgate, Holy Cross and Bucknell - have come in NCAA Tournament play with Kansas having a 2-1 record. KU's last meeting against a Patriot League member was in Oklahoma City when Bucknell upset Kansas 64-63 in the first round in 2005.

A Kansas Win Would…

A Kansas Loss Would…

End Kansas' season at 32-3… Make KU 23-8 as a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament… Give Kansas its first neutral game loss of the season (5-1) and make KU 14-1 away from home in 2009-10… Make Kansas 0-1 against Lehigh and 4-3 against current membership of the Patriot League… Make Bill Self 201-43 while at Kansas, 408-148 overall and 24-11 in NCAA Tournament games, including 14-6 while at Kansas… Make Kansas 2,002-796 all time.
