T-Bones Coast Past Cats, 15-2

EDMONTON, Alb. – One day after falling 13-0 to the Edmonton Cracker-Cats, the Kansas City T-Bones returned the favor in a 15-2 victory at TELUS Field. Kansas City pounded out 18 hits to Edmonton's five in the win.

Starters Chris Krawczyk for Kansas City and Dorian Castro for Edmonton held their opposition scoreless through the first two innings before Kansas City struck first with a five-run third inning, collecting six hits – three doubles – in the frame. Edmonton responded in their half of the inning, scoring two runs on a single from Terrance McClain to pull within three, 5-2.

The T-Bones plated two more in the fourth on a triple from Neb Brown before adding four in the fifth, including a two-RBI double from Rob Watson and a two-RBI single from Brown. Brown's single was the third two-RBI hit of the contest for the third baseman, who was three-for-four with six RBI and a home run short of the cycle after five. He finished the game four-for-six with six RBI.

Lost in the offensive outburst for Kansas City was a stellar outing from Krawczyk, who held the Cracker-Cats to just the two runs on five hits in seven innings of work to pick up the victory. Castro surrendered 10 runs on 12 hits in four and one-thirds innings in the loss.

Kansas City capped off their scoring in the sixth when Mario Delgado took reliever Phil Sobkow deep with a grand slam, the only home run of the contest.

Lavon Lewis and Travis Schlichting pitched scoreless eighth and ninth innings respectively for Kansas City to close out the victory. Infielder Rhett Teller threw a perfect ninth for Edmonton.

Game Notes: Every T-Bones hitter but Patrick Arlis picked up a hit in the contest…Watson extended his on-base streak to 10 games with a single in the first inning…Pickering continued his hot hitting, collecting two doubles while driving in a run and walking twice in the contest. He has now posted five straight multi-hit games…Brown entered the game having posted a .342 average in July and increased that mark to .367 (29-79) with his four-for-six night.
