The Kansas Volleyball Association hosted its 22nd Annual All-Star Match at Silver Lake High School on July 24, 2007. Twenty-two players from across the state participated in a five game match. The Blue Team defeated the Red Team by the scores 30-18, 18-30, 30-23, 30-28, and 15-12.
Tina Frick and Sam Williams led the Blue Team in kills with 10 each, while their teammate, Haley Schrag, led in assists with 18. Leading the serving charge was Stefine Pease with 4 service aces. Defensively, Staci Wait led the Blue Team with 20 digs, while
Meagan Montis had 2 solo blocks and 3 block assists.
The Red Team's stat leaders included Caitlin Conley with 11 kills, Amanda Stucky with
25 assists, and Jenna Kaiser, Bobbi Pearce, and Rexanne Schilowsky with 2 service aces each. Also, Paula Harris had 3 solo blocks, while Caitlin Conley had 16 digs.
Three individual awards were presented during the match as well. The 2007
Flo Hyman Scholarship recipient was Sarah Waldorf from Augusta High School. Stefine Pease
from Shawnee Heights High School was named the Most Inspirational Player "Judy
Bellomo" Award. The Joan Lundstrom Wells Award of Excellence went to Caitlin Conley from Shawnee Heights High School.
The KVA also recognized several other award recipients during the evening
festivities. These included the Programs of the Year, 2006 State Championship Teams, Victory Club Awards, and the Team Academic Awards.
