SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ Entertaining as always, Texas Tech football
coach Mike Leach dismissed concerns about losing his top three
receivers from last season.
Leach, during the Big 12 preseason media day in San Antonio,
said he thinks the Tech receivers are ``alive and kicking, despite
The Red Raiders had the nation's top offense four consecutive
seasons before ranking sixth in 2006 (448 yards per game).
This season, they'll have to replace Joel Filani, Robert Johnson
and Jarrett Hicks, who combined for 205 catches and 26 touchdowns
The most experienced returning wideouts are Danny Amendola, who
caught 48 passes in 2006, and speedster Todd Walker, who caught 21.
But Leach said this year's receiving corps could end up being
more talented than the previous group.
Leach has even more confidence in quarterback Graham Harrell,
who threw for four-thousand, 555 yards and 38 touchdowns in 2006.
