NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) _ The Tulsa Drillers of the
Double-A Texas League say tonight's game against the Wichita
Wranglers in Kansas has been postponed. The news comes in the wake
of the death of coach Mike Coolbaugh (KOOL-baw). He was killed last
night when he was struck in the head by a line-drive foul ball
while standing in the first base coach's box.
A police spokesman says the 35-year-old Coolbaugh was alive when
he was put into an ambulance but stopped breathing as they arrived
at the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The game was suspended in the ninth inning and officials say a
date and time for finishing it has not yet been chosen.
Coolbaugh played 44 games in the major leagues for the St. Louis
Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers over two seasons.
He is survived by his pregnant wife and two young sons.
