Topeka's Gary Woodland shot a 65 at Shawnee Country Club and leads the rest of the field at the Kansas Amateur Match Play Championships by two shots. Included in the top ten are fellow Topekans Same Wempe --- and Ryan Dietch.... The start of qualifying signals a beginning of perhaps the most prestigious golf event of the Summer in Northeast Kansas.
The second day of qualifying starts tomorrow morning. Over 300 golfers are competing for the 64 spots that will continue play for the Kansas Amateur Match Play tournament championship. Bracket play starts on Thursday.
