The wait is over. The other contender for the 2007 APFL Championship Game is the Iowa Blackhawks. The Kansas Koyotes, who had a bye this past weekend, will host the Blackhawks in the American Professional Football League’s fifth-season Championship Game. The Blackhawks of Council Bluffs, IA went on the road this past Saturday to play the Conroe (TX) Storm in Conroe to play in the single APFL Playoff Game.
The Blackhawks defeated the Storm 32 – 26 in their third meeting of the year to secure their place in the Championship Game. They each won their home games against one another during the regular season play. This is Iowa’s fourth season in the APFL and Conroe’s first. Conroe finished the regular season as APFL Co-Champions with the Koyotes, having identical loss records in the regular season schedule.
This Saturday’s Championship Game at 7:05 p.m. at the Kansas Expocentre will be the fourth meeting this season between the Koyotes (9-2) and the Blackhawks (9-3) this season. Both teams won their home games against each other this season with the Koyotes winning twice at home. The Koyotes hold only a 10-point edge in the three games this season.
This is the Blackhawks’ second trip to the Championship Game in their four years in the APFL while the Koyotes have been in the championship contest for five straight years. The Blackhawks were defeated in the 2005 Championship Game by the Koyotes on a last second field goal.
