COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) _ The Missouri men's basketball team is
losing its leading rebounder.
Coach Mike Anderson today dismissed senior forward Kalen Grimes.
The dismissal comes after Grimes was charged last week with
second-degree assault after allegedly striking a man with the butt
end of a shotgun during an altercation in north St. Louis County.
Anderson called it an ``unfortunate situation,'' but says it is
in the best interest of Grimes and the team to release him.
Grimes averaged nearly six rebounds per game for Missouri last
season, and averaged seven points per game.
Grimes did not have a listed phone number and was not available
