Kansas Men's Track and Field sends four to All-Academic Team

Four members of the Jayhawks Men's Track and Field team were named to the
2007 Division I All-Academic Track and Field team as announced by the
U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on

The University of Kansas student-athletes receiving the honor included
senior thrower Cody Roberts, junior thrower Egor Agafonov, senior jumper
Eric Babb and freshman runner Jack Sachse.

Agafonov had a tremendous year, highlighted by his 77-05.25 foot toss to
win the 2007 Indoor National Championship in the 35-lb weight throw. The
throw also set a new personal record and currently ranks as the second
best mark all-time in Kansas history. He won his fourth All-American
honor at the Outdoor NCAA Championships, won the outdoor Midwest Region
title and both the indoor and outdoor Big 12 championships. The
Togliatti, Russia native was also named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine
Academic All-America Team for his performance in the classroom.

Babb was an All-American in the long jump after his fourth place finish
at the 2007 Outdoor NCAA Championships. The secondary education and math
major also claimed a victory at the Kansas Relays as well as a third
place finish at the Midwest Regionals.

Roberts qualified for the outdoor NCAA Championships in the discus for
the second-consecutive year after he finished in fourth at the Midwest
Regionals and Sachse qualified for the indoor NCAA Championships in the
800 meter run, finishing seventh at the Big 12 Championships.
McNeese State University's Bradley Gebauer and University of
Mississippi's Barnabas Kirui were respectively named the 2007 USTFCCCA
Division I Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Athlete's of the Year.

233 student-athletes from 88 colleges and universities comprised the
Division I Men's All-Academic Team.

The USTFCCCA honors Division I individuals for their academic and
athletic achievements during the indoor and outdoor track season.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, one must
have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and obtain an NCAA
automatic or provisional qualifying mark for the most recent indoor
championships or an outdoor regional qualifying mark in their respective
