FRISCO, TEXAS - The North American Hockey League announced today the release of its 2007-08 regular-season schedule, including the NAHL Showcase Tournament schedule.
Each team will play 58 games, 29 at home and 29 on the road.
The season will commence on Friday, September 14 and end on Sunday, March 30. The fifth annual NAHL Showcase Tournament is slated for September 19-22 at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minn.
“We’re looking forward to another exciting, competitive season,” said NAHL commissioner Mark Frankenfeld. “Traditionally, there’s great parity in our league and we’re expecting more of the same this year.”
Set to begin its 32nd season, the 18-team NAHL will again be comprised of three divisions - the North, Central and South - with the St. Louis Bandits moving from the South Division to the North Division. The expansion Kenai River Brown Bears will compete in the South Division.
The Brown Bears will open their first NAHL season on Friday, September 14 when they host the Alaska Avalanche, while the Topeka RoadRunners, who have relocated this season from Santa Fe, will make their home debut at Landon Arena on Friday, September 28 against Alaska. The Bandits begin defense of their NAHL title in Ann Arbor, Mich., against the U.S. National Program on Friday, September 14.
The playoffs will again feature two, best-of-five divisional series commencing the weekend following the conclusion of the regular season with the winner of each division, along with the championship tournament host team, vying for the Robertson Cup Championship, USA Hockey’s Tier II Junior A national champion, the first week of May.
