De La Rosa Will Take The Mound For KC

Now that the Royals have ended the Mariners' winning streak at eight games, they'd like to resume being streaky themselves.
The Royals had won five straight, their longest splurge of the season, before dropping back-to-back, 3-1 games to the White Sox. In that streak the Royals knocked off a hot Angels club three times so perhaps the second-fiddle Mariners won't be that much of a challenge.

Well, check that. They have won 10 of their last 12 and 19 of their last 27 games.

The Royals will send out left-hander Jorge De La Rosa, hoping he'll build on his previous outing, a victory over the Angels. He pitched six shutout innings.

For the second straight night, the Royals will oppose a 21-year-old starter. Right-hander Felix Hernandez held them to two runs in eight innings on Monday night. This time they'll go against a lefty, Ryan Feierabend, who had five shutout innings against the Red Sox in his last start.

Pitching matchup
KC: LHP Jorge De La Rosa (5-9, 5.38 ERA)
If De La Rosa was pitching to save his spot in the rotation on Wednesday in Anaheim, he certainly came up roses. Although he gave up 10 hits over six innings, he held the Angels scoreless. Manager Buddy Bell lamented that De La Rosa had been wild "in the strike zone" in recent starts. Against the Angels, his location seemed better and he avoided the long ball -- nine of the Angels' hits were singles.

SEA: LHP Ryan Feierabend (1-2, 6.46 ERA)
Feierabend bounced back in his last start, shutting down the Red Sox in five innings and allowing five hits and no runs while striking out three and issuing two walks. His pitch count did climb in a hurry -- throwing 99 pitches through five frames -- but he didn't appear to lose control as the game wore on.

Player to watch
Royals leadoff batter David DeJesus is picking up the pace with a nine-game hitting streak in which he's 14-for-32 (.438). In the series opener, he had a homer, two doubles and scored all three runs.
