KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Kansas City Royals put first baseman Ryan Shealy on the 15-day disabled list Saturday and replaced him with Ross Gload.

Gload was recalled from an injury rehab assignment and was in the starting lineup for the Royals' game against the Chicago White Sox. The 31-year-old Gload had been out since May 14 with a right quadriceps tear.

Shealy has been slowed by a left hamstring strain.
