TOPEKA, Kan. (June 28, 2007) – Tuesday, July 3 Heartland Park Topeka will host the Star Spangled Modified Dirt Race. Presented by The Topeka Capital Journal, the special race will feature competition between the Modified, Factory Stock, Hobby Stock and the newly added Mod-Lites division. Pit gates will open at 4pm, spectator gates at 5pm, hot laps at 6pm and races start at 7pm.
Payouts for the races will include $2,500 for Modifieds, $300 for Factory Stock and $200 for Hobby Stock.
Admission for the races are $15 for spectators, $5 for children 12-5 years of age, $1 for children 5 and under and $30 for a pit pass.
Intermission will feature an Uncle Sam look-a-like contest. Spectators are encouraged to participate and the top three contestants who come dressed closest to Uncle Sam will win a prize. Prizes will be donated from Hu Hot Mongolian Grill, Sonic, Timberline Steak House and Grill and Old Chicago.
Heartland Park Topeka, a multi-purpose racing facility located in Topeka, Kan., annually hosts NHRA POWERade drag racing, the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), and many other pro and amateur drag racing, road racing, and dirt racings events throughout the race season.
