(June 22, 2007) - The highest scoring team in MLS hosts one of the hottest teams in the league Sunday in a match-up of clubs that currently sit second in their respective conferences. The Kansas City Wizards (6-3-2, 20 pts) host the Houston Dynamo (6-5-1, 19 pts) Sunday at 4 p.m. CT in a game broadcast nationally on Spanish-language station Telafutura and locally on Metro Sports.
Kansas City enters the match with the best goals-per-game average in MLS (2.09) and second-best goal (23) and assist (23) totals. The Wizards have scored the most goals in the final 15 minutes of games this season (8) and the most second-half goals of any team in the league (15). The Wizards are playing the last game of a three-game in eight-day stretch Sunday. Six of the next seven Wizards matches will be played at home.
Houston enters on a four-game winning streak after a 4-0 victory over former Wizards playmaker Preki and his Chivas USA squad Thursday. Houston has outscored its opponents 10-3 in the last four games, defeating Chivas USA, Columbus, Colorado and FC Dallas since June 3.
With a win, the Wizards will make Head Coach Curt Onalfo and his assistants the coaching staff for the All-Star Game scheduled for July 19 against Scottish power Celtic FC at new Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado. The head coach of the MLS All-Star squad will be the coach whose team has the most points earned per game played as of Monday, June 25. A victory clinches this honor for Onalfo and staff.
