Former Hayden Product Transferring to Washburn

TOPEKA, Kan. – Lady Blues head basketball coach Ron McHenry has
announced that Kalee Silovsky, a 6-0 junior forward from Topeka, Kan.,
will join the Washburn basketball team this fall. Silovsky is
transferring from NCAA Division I Southern Mississippi, where she played
one season of basketball and two seasons of soccer.
“We’re excited Kalee is coming back to Topeka,” head coach Ron McHenry
said. “She is an excellent athlete and skilled to play a couple
different positions on the court for us. We believe she can come in and
contribute right away.”
The Lady Blues, ranked No. 8 in the final WBCA National Coaches Poll,
finished last season 29-4 with and reached the NCAA South Central
Regional Finals for the third straight year and the fourth time in the
last five seasons while winning their third straight MIAA Postseason
Tournament Championship in Kansas City.
She joins Hadleigh Meek (Parkville, Mo./Park Hill South High School),
Alyssa Mullen (Greenwood, Mo./Lee's Summit West High School), Emily
Gibson (Shawnee, Kan./Bishop Miege High School) and Brett Ulsaker
(McPherson, Kan./Utah/McPherson High School).

Silovsky Bio
Background: As a prep hoops player at Hayden High School where she was
81-21 in her career leading them to three state championship games and
the 2004 title … she averaged 17 points and 5.8 rebounds per game as a
senior shooting 57 percent from the field … a three-time first-team
league selection ... a two-time first team all-city and all-state first
team pick ... A McDonald's All-American nominee ... Finished her career
as Hayden’s all-time career leader with 1,317 points ... set the single
season scoring record for the Wildcats with 442 points ... Named city
sophomore of the year ... Played in the KBCA All-Star game ... Played
AAU with the Missouri Valley Eclipse and her team finished second at the
Junior Olympic Nationals … she also played two seasons for the Golden
Eagles’ soccer team … she played in 13 games as a freshman … as a
sophomore she played in 17 games scoring two goals.
Personal: Daughter of Paul and Roxanne Silovsky … her father played
football at Washburn and her older sister Jolene played soccer for the
Lady Blues.
