WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ Travis Banwart held Arizona to two hits
over seven and two-thirds innings as Wichita State beat the
Wildcats 3-to-0 in the Wichita Regional championship game.
Tyler Weber homered for Wichita State (53-20), which advances to
a Super Regional against California-Irvine.
Banwart (10-5) struck out 12 batters to tie a career high and
didn't allow a hit until the fifth inning.
The Shockers scored all three of their runs in the fifth, with
Weber hitting a lead-off home run.
Arizona starter Mike Colla (3-3) was knocked from the game after
he hit Dusty Coleman and gave up a single to Andy Dirks.
Derek Schermerhorn's single off reliever Preston Guilmet drove
in two runs for the final margin.
The Shockers had not won a regional since 1996 and had lost in
four straight regional championship games.
