The swelling is down, and conditions are favorable for Kansas guard Brandon Rush to l undergo surgery on Friday to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Reports indicate doctors had determined that the swelling had diminished enough and Rush had built up enough strength in his leg for the surgery. Rush had injured his knee during a pickup game May 23.
Self is hopeful that Rush, the Jayhawks' leading scorer the past two seasons, will available for the start of the season on Nov. 1.
KU officially announced on Tuesday that Rush had a torn ACL. There's a four to six month re-hab process in line.
