ESU Athletics to Hold Annual Auction and Golf Tournament

EMPORIA, KAN. (May 29, 2007)--Emporia State Athletics will celebrate
another outstanding year with the Annual ESU Athletic Club Auction and
Golf Tournament this weekend. The Auction will be held at Bruff's
Steakhouse, 2640 W. 18th Ave. on Friday beginning with a social hour at
6:30 p.m. The golf tournament tees off at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the
Emporia Municipal Golf Course and will include current Dallas Cowboy
Patrick Crayton in the field of 40 teams. The auction items will be on
display at Bruff*s on Friday beginning at 12 noon.

There will be over 60 items up for live auction on Friday night
including several items from NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver and Emporia native
Clint Bowyer. The highlight of the NASCAR items is a Jack Daniel*s
Authentic Racing Suit worn and autographed by Bowyer this season. Bowyer
is currently ranked tenth in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Countdown to the

Patrons will also be able to bid on items ranging from a three night
stay in Branson to a trip with the Hornet basketball team to an
exhibition game against Texas A&M. There will also be chances to bid on
tickets to Kansas City Chiefs home games, autographed memorabilia from
the Kansas Jayhawks basketball team and Kansas State Wildcat football
team, bench opportunities with the Hornet and Lady Hornet athletic
teams. There will also be many Emporia State items such as autographed
jerseys. There will be an additional 20 items on silent auction
throughout the evening.

Although the golf tournament is currently filled, a waiting list is
being kept at the ESU Athletic Development Offfice. Registration is $125
per person for the four-person scramble and includes the round of golf,
cart, ESU adidas golf polo, sleeve of ESU logo golf balls, lunch at the
course and all food and beverages. Awards will be given out to the top
five places in two flights.

Proceeds from the Athletic Club Auction and Golf Tournament help
bolster scholarships and operating budgets for the individual athletic
programs at ESU. Emporia State had seven programs finish the season in
the top 33 nationally during the 2006-07 seasons while 54% of Hornet
student-athletes made the ESU Athletic Director's Honor Roll with a GPA
of 3.00 or better.
