TWO HORNETS FINALISTS FOR KEN B. JONES AWARD
May 23, 2007-Emporia State track athlete Andy Vogelsberg and Lady Hornet basketball player Michelle Stueve are among the finalists for the Ken B. Jones Award given annually to the top student-athlete in the MIAA. The winner will be announced at the MIAA Awards Banquet, set for May 31 in Kansas City in the Basie Ballroom of the Downtown Marriott Hotel.
Vogelsberg (Sr./Home, Kan.) is the defending national champion in the javelin and has the top mark in the nation entering the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships this weekend in Charlotte, N.C.
Stueve (Jr./Olpe, Kan.) is a two-time Kodak All-American and has twice been a unanimous selection for first-team All-MIAA. She is the fourth leading scorer in Lady Hornet history heading into her senior year.
Emporia State student-athletes have won the award five times in the 13 year history of the award, tied for the most among conference schools. This is the second time in the last five years ESU has had a finalist for both the men's and women's awards.
