ALLENDALE, MICH. -- The Washburn Ichabod golf team will make its fourth NCAA Championship appearance in the last five seasons when they tee off tomorrow in Allendale, Mich. Live Stats for the event can be found here. The Ichabods also reached the national tournament during the 2003, 2004 and 2005 seasons. The championships will take place from May 22-25 at The Meadows Golf Club in Allendale, Mich., and will be hosted by Grand Valley State University.
The Washburn Ichabod advanced to the national tournament after carding a team score of a 7-over 295 claiming the NCAA Division II Central Regional with a 17-stroke victory over host school Missouri Southern at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club in Joplin, Mo.
Ryan Deutsch won medalist honors at the regional with a 3-under 213 for the three-day tournament after shooting a 1-over 73 for the third round.
Matt Lazzo finished in second place with a 3-over 219 (74-73-72). Lazzo was 2-over at the turn, but rallied back to the clubhouse with a 2-under 34 on the backside en route to the even 72.
Matt Ewald was 7-over with a 223. After shooting a pair of 73s in the first two rounds, Ewald carded a 77 in the third round to finish in a tie for eighth place.
John Robbins finished in 13th with a 9-over 225 (77-73-75). He was 3-over in the third round.
Taylor Dunham recorded his best round of the regional with a 3-over 75 improving on a pair of 78s in the first two rounds for a 15-over 231.
