It's pitching that has been the backbone to seaman's baseball success. Now on a 39 game roll, Tyler Bean has teamed up with Jake Hosey and others to bring the Vikings back to state. Within reach of something special, Bean plans to continue bringing his "Personal Best" to both of his specialties.
"When I get in the flow... I like to work quick... get that first pitch strike."
And more often than not... that first one is followed by another... and then a third.... Tyler Bean has followed his good buddy Jake Hosey's lead.
"Jake and I are the same ... take that approach every time."
In the Vikings regional championship, Bean threw a three inning no-hitter in a 16 to nothing semi-final... and then in the title game... came through with this... a double into the deep dark night of what turned out to be the hit that led to the run-rule championship victory. He finds himself both pitching and hitting at a high level.
"I wanted to be a two way player.. be a leader in my senior year"
Bean plans to stay aggressive.
"get after it..."
Both Hosey ...
and Bean have thrown perfect games in their careers... Last night's trophy WAS one more accomplishment... and pulled the Vikings within reach of a record setting win-streak --- which would also be another state championship.
"I like our chances... one game at a time."
