Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Wednesday that the club has agreed to terms of two-year contracts with four rookie free agents. CB Tony Franklin, FB Gilbert Harris, LB Nate Harris and LB David Hicks all agreed to terms. No other terms of the agreements were made available.
Franklin (5-10, 180) was a four-year starter in the secondary for Virginia, appearing in 47 games (31 starts). He registered 208 tackles (151 solo), 11.0 tackles for loss (-44.0 yards), 3.0 sacks (-18.0 yards), two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, six interceptions, 12 passes defensed and two QB pressures. The high school All-America selection prepped at St. Peter Chanel High School in Bedford, Ohio.
Gilbert Harris (6-2, 235) saw action in 33 games (13 starts) at both tailback and fullback for Arizona, totaling 172 carries for 633 yards (3.7 avg.) with eight TDs. He also caught 48 passes for 350 yards (7.3 avg.) and two TDs. He prepped at Churchill High School in San Antonio, Texas.
Nate Harris (6-0, 230) saw duty in 25 games (19 starts) at Louisville, recording 131 tackles (75 solo), 20.5 tackles for loss (-99.0 yards), 9.0 sacks (68.0 yards), two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and four passes defensed. He led the Cardinals with 65 tackles (38 solo) in 2006. He began his collegiate career at Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kansas. The Miami, Florida native prepped at Edison High School.
Hicks (6-2, 236) appeared in 28 games for Grambling, totaling 128 tackles (66 solo), 11.0 tackles for loss (-36.0 yards), 2.0 sacks (-19.0 yards), an interception, four passes defensed, four QB pressures, a fumble recovery, four forced fumbles and a blocked kick. Hicks prepped at El Dorado High School in El Dorado, Arkansas.
