Kansas City, MO (April 15, 2007) – The Kansas City Royals today announced that right- handed pitcher Todd Wellemeyer had his contract awarded to the St. Louis Cardinals on an outright waiver claim. Wellemeyer was previously designated for assignment following the Royals May 10 game against Oakland. The 28-year-old was 0-1 with a 10.34 ERA in 12 relief appearances for the Royals this season. An original fourth round pick of the Cubs in 2000, he went 1-2 with a 3.63 ERA in 28 outings for KC in 2006 after being claimed off waivers from the Marlins on June 9.
