May 13, 2007-Matt Marasco hit a walk-off home run to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning as the Emporia State baseball team defeated #7 Central Missouri 7-6 in the second MIAA Tournament Championship game. The Mules got on the board first with a two run home run from Iain Dykins in the fifth inning. Mark McBratney tied the score for ESU with a two run single in the bottom of the frame. UCM went back up 4-2 with single runs in the seventh and eighth. Nick Wolfe tied the game with a two run homer to left in the eighth and McBratney gave the Hornets a 6-4 lead with a two out, two RBI single up the middle. Josh Paul tied the game for the Mules with a two RBI double in the top of the ninth, setting the stage for Marasco's heroics. Trent Lare got the win in relief for ESU after Kellen Mitts started and surrendered two runs on seven hits through 5.0 innings. McBratney ended the game three for four with four RBI. With the win ESU snapped UCM's string of seven consecutive MIAA Tournament Championships and earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Central Region Tournament. This will be ESU's fourth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament in baseball. Emporia State is the only MIAA school to send their men's and women's basketball, men's and women's tennis, softball and baseball teams to the NCAA Tournament this year.
