On his final attempt at the Centennial League Track Meet, Shawnee Heights javelin thrower Iain Trimble threw the javelin 229' 7" to set a new national standard in the event.
The throw was originally measured three inches further, but a re-measure using a steel leader arrived at the final distance.
Trimble's throw paced Shawnee Heights to the Centennial League boys championship. Emporia won the girls championship.
Trimble had previously signed a National Letter of Intent to throw the javelin at the University of Kansas. He was the Kansas Relays champion.
