Ichabods Lead NCAA Central Region

JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabods lead the NCAA Central Regional
golf tournament by 3 shots over Winona State. Today's action did not
start until 3:15 p.m. because of wet weather forcing a shotgun start
between all the participating teams. Washburn's Ryan Deutsch leads the
tournament by one shot after carding a 2-under 70 for the first 18

The Ichabods' Matt Ewald is in a tie for fifth after recording a 1-
over 73. He is followed by Matt Lazzo who was 2-over after the first
round and John Robbins schot a 5-over 78. Taylor Dunham was 6-over
after his first round. Action will continue at 7:30 a.m. for two team
who have not completed their first 18 holes and the entire field will
begin at 9:30 a.m. weather permitting. The Ichabods are making their
seventh overall appearance to the NCAA regional and their sixth

The Ichabods are one of eighty teams and fifty individuals have been
selected to participate in the 2007 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf
Championships super regionals. The super regionals will be conducted
May 7-9. The Central/Great Lakes Region will be held at Twin Hills
Golf and Country Club in Joplin, Mo., and will hosted by Missouri
Southern State University. The top team from each of the 10 regions
within the super regional and the top individual not with a team from
each super regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals
May 22-25 at The Meadows in Allendale, Michigan. The finals will be
hosted by Grand Valley State University.
