For Iain Trimble, being one of the best javelin throwers in the nation was actually an accident. Trimble went out for the baseball team his freshman year, but got cut. That left the door open for track and field coach Brad Nicks to pick up Trimble for his team.
Even once on the track and field team, Trimble had to stumble into his best event though. He was throwing the shot put when his coaches asked him to try the javelin. It didn't take long to realize that was his calling.
Trimble won state in both his sophomore and junior campaigns, and with his work ethic, all signs are pointing towards a 3-peat. Coach Nicks says it's nice to have one of his best athletes as his hardest workers.
The future looks bright for the KU signee, because in addition to raw talent, strenght, and effor, Iain is also a student of the sport. He listens to his coach and even studies others in his event. So it seems that success for Ian Trimble isn't an accident.
